Mandore(9kms from jodhpur )The
ancient capital of marwar.it
contains the cenotaphs of
jodhpur rulers.Here we can see
the palace and the gardens
builts by Maharaja abhay singh
in 1724-49AD. Monstrous gardens
carved out of rocks in different
terraces various flowering and
foliar herbs and shrubs can be
seen at mandore .The
royalcenotaphs built on the
shiva and Buddhist patterns the
gallery of 330crore-Gods and
Goddesses-status and temple are
very impressive.The old
fort,junagrh" and a large temple
showing the architect of 4th
century and there we can see the
various episodes of lord
krishana .
It is said that king Rawana was
married with mandodary on the
same placeand it is known as the
chanwariof Rawana.
The high light of this place is
the hall of heroes which house
sixteen gigantic figures carved
out of a single rock depicting
popular hinduand flok deities
stand there is bright colours
and are very well maintained.The
area is surrounded by
landscaped.The area is

Hall of Heroes : It houses 16
gigantic figures.
Mahamandir Temple
It was built in 1812 withs
carved pillors.
Dewals
The old royal crematorium of the
Jodhpur houses at Mandar is
surrounded by many cenotaphs,
popularly called "Dewals" Which
are erected on the spot where
the funeral pyres consumed their
remains. Some of these are very
fine and massive. The two
dedicated to Maharaja Jaswant
Singh and Maharaja Ajit singh
are the largest and the finest.
It is profusely inscribed and
makes this pot where 44 queens
perished in the flames of Ajit
Singh's pyre in 1924 AD.
The other principal cenotaphs, 4
standing in a straight line from
north to South are (a) Rao Mal
Deo Ka Dewal (b) Mota Raja Udai
Singh Ka Dewali (c) Sawai Raja
Sursingh Ka Dewal (d) Raja Gaj
Singh Ka Dewal.
There are also two large tombs
in Mandore one patham ghulam
Qualander Khan and the other of
Gamma. This tomb is entered
through a fine Mughal gateway. A
sati tablet bearing an
inscription of 1159 AD, is also
founded there.
