Getting there Sanganer airport, 15 km south
of town, has flights from Ahmadabad,
Aurangabad, Delhi, Jodhpur, Mumbai, Rajkot
and Udaipur. Airport buses, taxis and autos
take about 30 mins to the centre. The
railway station to the west of town, now has
improved links with major cities through
upgrading to broad gauge. The Main Bus
Terminal, a 15-rnin walk east of the
station, is used by state and private buses.
Most hotels are a short auto-rickshaw ride
away from the station and bus terminal.
Buses from Delhi use the dreamtically
improved NH8, India's first toll
'""motorway", and the journey now takes
under 4 hrs by car. The alternative
Gurgaon-Alwar-Jaipur route is more
interesting but much slower. Getting around
The Old City, to the northeast of town,
holds most of the sights and the colourful
bazar within its walls, and is best explored
on foot though to get there you can hire a
rickshaw. The city buses are overcrowded.
The newer town has spread out and there are
interesting places to visit in the
neighbourhood which you may prefer to hire a
taxi for.
