Copies of the famous Bundi murals of Garh
Palace on silk or paper are ideal souvenirs.
These are available at Bundi Art, just
inside the Garh Palace, and at other shops
in Nahar ka Chotta. Bundi ladoos are said to
have originated here and you can pick these
up from any of the sweetshops in the
bazaars. For traditional
Kota-Bundi School of Art miniatures, you can
get in touch with artist Soni Gopal at Mayur
Art, which is located at Nahar Ka Chotta in
Bundi. Gopal has been trained in the
traditional style of Kota-Bundi painting
which features hunting scenes, animal fights
and landscapes, and makes use of red as the
predominant background colour. He paints on
paper, silk and marble, and can also paint
as per the Jaipur School of Art. Gopal, who
can be commissioned to do paintings, was
chosen to do the cover illustration for a
travel guide brought out by New
Zealand-based travel company Indian
Motorcycle Adventures, which arranges mobike
touts in Rajasthan. |
