Resort Overview

The Tall Trees Resorts stands tall and aloof among the other such establishments in and around Munnar. What makes it standout is mainly the bio-diverse eco-system it has successfully preserved in the sprawling 66 acres, even though all the modern creature comforts are tastefully arranged in each of the well appointed cottages nestling among the greenery. Coupled with this is the proximity to the most sought-after wild life sanctuaries of South India.

There are around 600 trees overshadowing the resort landscape covered with stretches of preserved wilderness, carefully nurtured cardamom plantations, gurgling streams, rocky formations, wet and green with moss and lichens and the numerous orchids and wild plants covering the tree barks and rocks. The highly endemic species of birds, butterflies, moths, small and harmless wild animals and several varieties of wild flowers all cohabit and make this piece of nature a reflection of Paradise.

Facilities for short and long treks through virgin forestlands and well kept organic plantations, along rocky streams and meadowlands, giving panoramic view of undulating hills and open skies are provided. Campfire, barbecue and adventure activities all add up to give the guests an unforgettable experience of a life time. The colourful sunset view is perhaps the most enthralling experience of all. The footpaths mingle with the safe and secure surroundings without callously cutting through them.

The multi cuisine restaurant with Continental, Indian and Kerala delicacies is glass roofed to maintain the experience of merging with Mother Nature. The open-air theatre and campfire areas all enhance the unity with the earth, at the same time giving an unearthly thrill to the guests. The birds sing in unison with nature, joining in the rejoicing of the singing hearts.

The whole air is suffused with the bewitching aroma of virgin wilderness, and homely hospitality that makes the visitor long for returning again and again to this Garden of Eden tucked away among the verdant valleys of the Western Ghats.

  Accommodation

Cottages
Cosy cottages tucked away below the sky-scraping trees. The cottages are each independent and built on stilts without disturbing the ecosystem and avoiding the felling of trees in the process. The interior designing and furnishing have local Kerala traditional and rustic flavours combined with the modern ideas of comfortable living. The balconies allow the residents to observe the nature in all its verdant bounty all around.

There are three types of cottages fitting the pockets of the discerning travellers. The Luxury Cottage has two well-furnished bedrooms with attached bathrooms, one spacious living room, one dining room and two balconies from where you can be one with nature. Deluxe Cottage has one well-furnished bedroom with bathroom, a living room, a dining room and two balconies. Standard Cottage has a large bedroom with attached bath and a spacious balcony.

Pathways - The intricate infrastructure
The main pathway into the resort, the interconnecting pathways inside the facilities and the trekking footpaths for the short and long treks are all designed to keep the intimacy with nature intact. They merge into the surrounding shrubs and trees and disappear into the growth around. But there is nothing on the pathways to harm even the naked feet. The lights provided on the pathway are just sufficient to light up the road without illuminating the whole area.

Parking Area - Ample area under a green canopy
The Parking area is expansive and lay under a green canopy of the tall trees, inside the compound itself. You never feel the congestion even at the height of the season. Separate accommodation and meals to the drivers are provided without extra payment.

Services
The whole atmosphere is homely and friendly, combining traditional hospitality with modern day ideas of catering and hotel management. You will feel the difference in the services provided. Services include running water hot and cold, telephone, laundry, doctors on call, coffee/tea maker, 24 hrs room service and a multi-cuisine restaurant which includes traditional delicacies.

Restaurant - Gourmet’s delights under a glass roof
Passing through an entrance that recalls the traditional aristocratic architecture of ancient Kerala, you reach a glass roofed expansive hall arranged with a lot of elbowroom. All popular and traditional delicacies of the Kerala, Indian and the Continental varieties are served promptly and politely. The treetops swaying in the mountain breeze and the floating clouds in the azure skies flame your appetites. Candle light dinner among the illuminated treetops and moonlight will be ever etched in memory. A long balcony from where you can touch the trees enhances the atmosphere.
