Munnar is situated at the confluence
of three mountain streams - the
Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala.
Lying 1600 metres above sea level,
this hill station was once the
summer resort of the British
Government in South India. Sprawling
tea plantations, picture book towns,
and winding lanes make this a
popular resort town. Among the
exotic flora found in the forests
and grasslands here is Neelakurinji.
This flower, which baths the hills
in blue every twelve years, is due
to bloom again in 2006. Munnar also
has the highest peak in South India,
Anamudi, which towers over 2695
metres and is an ideal spot for
trekking.
