Sonamarg 80 Kms from Srinagar, enroute to Ladakh situated 3000 meters above sea level. Sonamarg is dramatic in its breath taking beauty. Surround by mountains, with a hill spur running the length of the settlement.
 
Sonamarg is the base of a major trek that passes along several mountain lakes –Vishansar, Kishansar, Gadsar, Satsar and Gangabal. Sonamarg is also the take off station for the drive to Ladakh across the Zojila, a major pass in the Great Himalayan Range, through which the Srinagar-Leh Road passes.

The valley opens up to a meadow. Kangan and Gund was two important halts enroute. The valley is ringed by mountain scaling 5300 meters. Dotted with camping sites, the climp to the top is sufficient reason to merit a visit to the resort. Sonamarg has a string of shimmering waterfalls.
