Sarai is located at Village Ayu at 10
minutes drive from Leh Airport (Ladakh,
India) surrounded by scenic views .
Accommodation is in the form of spacious
canvas and bamboo yurts, specially
fabricated by hand and retain the essential
characteristics of the original Central
Asian and Mongolian akois.
The rendezvous for meals and gatherings is
an attractive hexagonal building, designed
after a traditional Ladakhi house, complete
with a Buddhist chapel.
Hammocks and lounge chairs are always
available on the lawns and the patio
adjoining the dining hall for you to relax
in the sun and enjoy the beauty of the
mountains and tranquil surroundings
CLIMATE
AND CLOTHING: The Ladakh Sarai is open from
May to October. Bookings in late April and
late October are accepted subject to weather
conditions.
Sightseeing Options in the area are:
• Hemis Monastery - 40 km southeast of leh
• Thiksey Monastery - 17 kms South of
Leh
• Shey Palace - 15 kms, south of Leh
• Patthar Sahib - 20 kms
July and August is considered the best
months to visit Leh from the point of view
of Festivals. Leh is famous for hosting the
world renowned Ladakh Festival. Winters
(Oct-March) are extremely cold here with
temperatures touching minus 30 and
recommended only for extreme weather
adventure enthusiasts (Such as Ice Skating
on frozen Zanskar River).
Access : Leh is accessible by Road from
Manali and Srinagar. Both Routes are best
done with one of two night stopovers. Best
way to access Leh is by flight from Delhi.
