The Mall: The Mall is the most favourable place. It bis also a main shopping center of Shimla. Old British theatre is also situated here. The Mall one can also explorer the middle and lower bazaes. To avoid climbing many stairs to the mall, one can use lift from the cart Road.
Jakhu Hill: It is about 2 kms from Ridge and connected with a good path. Jakhu Hill (2455) is the highest point of Shimla.
Sri Hanuman Ji Temple at Jakhu Hill: Is always guarded by the troop of monkeys. According to a legend, Hanuman Ji rest here when he was carrying a hill of Sanjiwani booti (a herb to save the life of Lakshman, the younger brother of Lord Rama).
Shimla State Museum: Opened in 1974. The Shimla State Museum houses a collection of paintings donated by the family of Wazir Kartar Singh of Nurpur, Kangra.
The Institute of Advanced Studies. Housed appropriately in the magnificent Rashtrapati Niwas or the old vice regal Lodge (near Summer hill) which was built in 1884-88 during the tenure of Lord-Duffeerin. It is a commanding building in Summer Hill.
Summer Hill: Situated at a distance of 5 kms from the Ridge is the lovely suburb of summer Hill at an attitude of 1982 Meters on the Shimla-Kalka Railwayline. Lived Mahatama Gandhi during his visits to Shimla. The Mahatma lived in the elegant Georgian house of Raj Kumari Amrit Kaur, daughter of the last Rular the Punjab maharaja Dalip Singh.
Prospect Hill: 5kms from the City on Shimla on line with summer Hill. Prospect Hill at a height of 2175 meters. Sunset and moonrise can be seen of the same time from here on a fall of moon evening.
Taradevi, kamana Devi, Creda Devi Temples on the top of the prospect Hill.
Tara Devi: The goddess of the stars (11 kms from Shimla bus stand) Tara Devi has a temple dedicated to the Goddess of the stars on top of a hill developed by the British. At a height of 1851 meters.
Chad Wick Falls: (4 kms from shimla) A popular picnic spot. A small stream falls were best in the monsoon.
Mashoka: 13 kms from Shimla – having the biggest fruit Research Station in Northern India. This has several other excellent picnic spots.
Sri Hanuman Temple: (6 kms from Shimla at Sankat Mochan). The place is motorable and commands an excellent view of Shimla Town.
Annandale: Shimla’s playground (It is 24 kms from the Ridge). In the old days it was used for picnics, Criket and the Gymkhana races. It is still a favourite spot for cricket, picnics and the princely gams of polo.
Wild Flower Hall: (2593m)- 13 kms from Shimla, it is the seat of mountain flowers. In the heyday of British Rule in the country a piquant situation arose in the corridors of power. The impetous Lord Kitchener was set on a collision course with the Viceroy Lord Curzon, the dispute was whether the army was answerable to the C – in – C; or to the Viceroy. Head strong Kitchener carried the Rivalry to spectacular to the Viceroy’s seat of power in Shimla. Wildflower Hall today is a hotel.
Kufri: (2622 meters) – 16 kms from Shimla 13 kms from Ridge. Kufri is a little hamlet in the Himalayan Belt. Is the summer Capital par excellence. There is an excellent picnic spot. There is a mini Himalayan Zoo and there are some yaks to ride.
Fagu:(2500m) 22km from Shimla on the Hindustan Tibet Road and 6 km from Kufri is a place of great natural wealth with its woods ferms and apple orchards. There are beautiful short walks and the Himalayan range in view.
Chini Bungalow or The Indian Holiday Home: 16 kms from Ridge and 19 kms from Shimla Bus stand. At an attitude of 2622 meters, in the midst of pine forests and with a splendid view is the Chinni, later named Indira Bungalow.
Chail:(2250 mts) 45 kms from Shimla, 90 kms from Kalka. Summer capital of the Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala and later Maharaja Yadavendra Singh President of Pepsu and the last ruler of Patiala before Independence. Built over three hills over the site of the highest cricket ground in the World Chailis a Resort in the Shivalik Hills.
The adjacent hills carry the main landmarks of Chail. On Rajagarh hill stands near the Maharaja’s palace, now a hotel. On the pandava hill stands the Old Residency, snow vice. And on the third, Sidh Tibba is an ancient Sidh temple.
Tattapant: On the Right banks of the River Sutlej are the hot water Sulphor Springs. Tattapani is 51 km from Naldehra. One can enjoy the wonder of the nature to bathe in the Hot water besides the icy cold water of Satlej.
Kotgarh: (82 km from Shimla) Land of agricots and apples up to Thanedhr 2 km from the famous apple orchards, which is in addition produce apricots, pears, peaches, plums and cherries. Himachal is knownasn the apple state.
Narkanda:(64 kms from Shimla and 2708 height). The Himalayas are still in the biggest attraction in Himachal. Another excellent trekking skily Narkanda Commands unique view of the eternal snowline. The fertile pota to and apple growing area and the dense forests.
Hatkoti Temple :( 104 kms from Shimla) Situated at an attitude of 1100 meters, a beautiful valley where the River Pabbar flews placidly by near by is a Temple Sri Durga and Shiva.
Rohru: (15 kms from hot koti temple) and 120 kms from Shimla. The Pabbar River going through Rohru has excellent fishing and DEVI SHIKRA Temple.
Naldehra:
24 kms from Shimla, 20 kms from the Ridge. The British Raj moved up to Shi mla during the summer to escape the heat and to work in pleasant surroundings.

Sri Mahuna Temple At Naldehra Sanjauli:
(3 kms from ridge 7km from Shimla Busstand). At a night of 2257 meters. View of the Jakhoo Temple to the Goddess Shamala, St. Beder, College, NavBhar, Kusumpti, Here is a British cemetery also.
Famous for its temple of the goddess Durga Sanjali has a Buddhist monastery.
The Toy Train:
In 1904 with Lord Curzon on board, a little steam engine set out from Kalka. Seven hours later, after passing through 109 tunnels (The longest at Barog was nearly a Kilometer long and was celebrated with a one hour break for lunch) the train pulled into Shimla. It was a historic movement. It also marked a rise in the fortunes of Shimla.
Solan:
(37 kms from Kalka) situated midway between Shimla and kalka in the Shimla Hills. The town developed by the British. Solan is at a height 1350 meters
