It has an average elevation of 2,
146 meters (7,041 feet) the retreat
i.e a place of privacy.
Mashobra is firstly known as a place
one of the only two Presenditial
places of privacy in India. The
other one is called Rashtrapati
Nilayam in Hyderabad.
As known the president visits as per
plan to mashobra in definite once
every year and on such time his
central office shifts to the retreat
at chharabra so called the most
beautiful and lovely place near to
Mashobra. It is a place called the
retreat consists and made of
complete wooden structure originally
built in 1850.
After independence when lord batten
who was the governor general of
India going back to London in may
1948 at the end of his mission as
viceroy along with the lady Edwin
had the opportunity to spend few
weeks here and during stay in the
retreat our ten Prime – Minister
Jawahar Lal Nehru visited there to
meet them and has become the history
in the biography of Lady mount
batton.
