Dedicated to Our Lady of Graces is the Church of St. Augustine, built in 1602 by the Augustinian friars. It is opposite the Royal Chapel of St. Anthony and hardly a five-minute walk from the Basilica. This church, which was once the largest in Goa, was abandoned in 1835 because of religious persecution and collapsed in 1842. Now, what remains of the church is only the belfry of the tower, which is 46metre high.
