All the religions are found in Goa- Christians, Hindus and Muslims. Many Hindus changed their religion to Christianity in the early years of Portuguese rule to return their property. In 1616 the Bible was translated into Konkani in the form of a folk tale which is easily understandable by the villagers. In 1623 Brahmin families changed their religion to Catholicsm to retain their cast as per the permission of Pope Gregory. Wheather the Goans are Catholic, Hindu or Muslim, all of them give respect to each others religion. At the time of prayers both the faiths are offered in Konkani.
