The is known for its Seafood. The common ingredients of Goa includes rice, coconut and cashew nuts, pork, beef and a wide variety of seafood. Vegetarian food lake xacuti and Caldinha(dishes cooked in spices and coconut milk) are used in the preservation of vegetables. Mergolho which is made up of pumpkin, papaya and breadfruit curry is one of the vegetable dish.

Seafood:
The most popular food for which Goa is famous for is “Fish curry and rice”. This dish is served with sauce over rice can be easily found in any restaurants. Amongst all the items in Goa Kingfish is the most demanding item, but there are many other items like pomfret, shark, tuna mackerel. In shellfish crabs, tiger prawns and lobster are famous. Other seafood includes squid and mussels. Lightly spiced or spiceless food is also offered by many beach shacks and restaurants as per the demand of the tourists. A slightly sour curry dish like ambot tik is the most popular Goan dish, which can also be prepared with either fish or meat. Caldeirada and Recheiado and Balchao are a delicious preparations of Goa.

Meat dishes:
Goa’s most famous meat dish is Sorpotel. Sorpoltel is prepared from pork, pork liver, heart and Kidneys and served with very spicy sauce flavored with feni to give it an added taste. Xacuti is one of the traditional dish prepared by using chicken and by cooking it in coconut milk and sprinkling some grated coconut and a varity of spices on it. Spicy pork or beef Vindalho, marinated in garlic, vinegar and chillies is really a popular item. Portuguese culinary traditional dish prepared and served with spicy pork sausages are known as Chouricos. This dish is traditionally eaten during the monsoon.

Bread & Sweet:
There are many types local bread. In which Uned are small, round, crusty rolls, generally served fresh from the bakery and can be eaten with sorpotel as well. Bebinca the most famous sweet meat of Goa. The Ingredients involved in Bebinca are egg yolk, flour, coconut milk and sugar. Another famous sweet of Goa is Dodol. Dodol is traditionally eaten at Christmas and made up of rice flour, coconut milk, jaggery and cashew nuts. It is served in slices. Doce is another favorite sweet of Goans.

Fruits:
Jackfruit, Papaya, watermelons and Cashew nuts are grown in abundance.
Drinks:
In Goa Drinks are cheaper as compared to elsewhere in India. The famous drinks are Caju feni made from fermented juice if cashew apples. Coconut or palm feni is made from the sap of the coconut plam, ‘Port’, a red wine and Dark rum are few famous drinks of Goa.
